Thematic Conference: Sustainable Cultural Monuments: Innovative use,Funding, Promotion (2 November 2023)

The thematic conference intended for the professional public from the field of cultural monuments management, museology and related fields was organized in accordance with the project objectives, namely to inform the target group about the possibilities of using cultural monuments innovatively and sustainably.The content of presentationsaimed at topics related mainly to the development, management and daily life of cultural monuments as well as the promotion of cultural monuments in the Czech Republic and abroad.

The conference was attended by 35 invited participants from the owners and operators of cultural monuments, in addition, representatives of the National Heritage Institute were present too. The programme covered the conference theme from several perspectives. Owners of the cultural monuments (Mr. Engineer Starec from the Kostelec Brewery and the National Museum of Brewing, Mr. Architect Prouza from the LobečBrewery and Mr. Ladislav Pártl from the MěšťanskýBrewery in Polná) shared their experience and stories of how they ´breathed life´ into their cultural monument. They also specified how they continuein their work under the current conditions and presented their visions for the future. Mr. Řehořka, the architect, informed the participants on what the reconstruction of the cultural monument entails,underlined the main challenges, and also showed a concrete example of the renovation of the Castle Brewery in Jindřichův Hradec, which he is currently working on.

The following part of the conference focused on funding opportunities suitable especially for cultural monuments. Ms. Pacalová from the Town of Trebic presented funding schemes available at the regional and national level, Ms. Puchý mentioned some grant possibilities provided by foreign donors and institutions. The last speaker, Mr. Kozák, director of the non-profit organization "Institute for Monuments and Culture," presented the concrete project called“Propamátky.”He specified what they focus on within the implementation of this project and what they specifically help owners of cultural monuments with.

After the end of the conference programme, the guests were presented with an innovative museum tour, which was created thanks to the financial support of the EEA and Norway Grants.
