The Dalešice Brewery successfully completed the implementation of the EEA and Norway Grants funded project

As of 31 March 2024, the implementation of a two-year project supported by the EEA and Norway Grants entitled "Dalešice Brewery - a place of meeting, exploring and reviving traditions and crafts" was successfully accomplished. The project, which started in June 2022, was carried out in cooperation with the Icelandic partner "Industry Museum Akureyri."

The EEA and Norway Grants Call for Culture, under which the project was submitted in November 2021, aimed to support the "Innovative use of movable and immovable cultural heritage." The intention then was to support projects that would also focus on building local identity and making cultural heritage accessible unconventionally and attractively. Thanks to the involvement of local cooperating partners in the project, namely the theatre association DUSOT, as well as the cooperation with the Icelandic partner "Industry Museum Akureyri", several activities and events have been implemented.

The events and activities organised for the general public have contributed to reviving the brewery premises. These were mainly cultural and educational events related to brewing, traditions and customs. The activities also supported local community gatherings and offered visitors an unconventional way to spend their free time. The events ran from June 2022 to March 2024. Among the most popular were the summer so-called Hrabal Nights and meetings under the titles "Not only the brewery manager is the master of the brewery" and "Reviving forgotten crafts". On all these occasions, visitors could also learn about Icelandic traditions and customs, and their differences and similarities with the Czech ones.

"Thanks to these events and the positive visitors´ feedback, we were able to support our community life in Dalešice and the surrounding area. This was not only thanks to thematic cultural activities accompanied by live performances co-organised by our project partner DUSOT association, " specifies Ms Klára Polehlová from the project implementation team.

In addition to the various events, the Dalešice Brewery also opened an innovative multimedia tour route of the brewery museum in June 2023, which offers visitors the opportunity to learn about the history of the Dalešice Brewery and details relating tobeer production, using multimedia tools. Since the opening of the innovative route, the Dalešice Brewery has seen great interest in the tours. "The tour lasts approximately 35 minutes and offers more information than before, but at the same time the length of the tour allows to keep the visitor's attention and does not overload the visitor with superfluous information." said the director of the Dalešický brewery Mr. Tichý.

Visitors can also see the exhibition on the role of Roma and Jews in brewing and related professions, created within the project. More detailed information on this topic can be found on the brewery's website accessible via QR code, includingthe knowledge quiz.

Beyond the above activities for the general public of all generations, also the expert conference on "Sustainable Cultural Monuments: Innovative use, Funding, Promotion" was organised for professionals in the field of cultural heritage management, museum management and related fields.

Furthermore, the project "Dalešice Brewery - a place of meeting, exploring and reviving traditions and crafts", implemented thanks to the financial support of the EEA and Norway Grants, enabled the Dalešice Brewery to move forward towards possibilities of further development of the brewery premises area. Thanks to the positive visitors´ reactions to the events, the cooperation with the Icelandic partner and the highlighting of the potential for further use of the cultural monument, the implementation has also brought new challenges and plans that the Dalešice Brewery will strive to fulfil in the future. The strategy for further innovative use of the brewery premises for experiential and event tourism in the medium term will be based on the experience and knowledge gained during the project implementation. Emphasis will also be placed on developing further international cooperation.
